The main goal of the joint campaign by the veteran organisation of the traffic police of Polotsk District Department of Internal Affairs and the State Automobile Inspectorate of Vitebsk region is the prevention of child road traffic injuries; schoolchildren will be taught safe behaviour on the road and will be given reflectors.
The first event of the campaign took place at School No. 12 in Polotsk. "A performance by the team of young traffic inspectors was organised. In addition, traffic police officers held a discussion with the schoolchildren. The children were reminded of the basic rules of behaviour on the road and were explained how to safely cross the carriageway. Great attention was paid to the necessity of wearing retroreflective elements and how to properly attach reflectors to clothing," said Alexander Kazyuchits.
All pupils of the school received reflectors as gifts. These retroreflective elements were purchased with voluntary donations. "The initiator of the campaign, the veteran organisation of the traffic police of Polotsk District Department of Internal Affairs, appealed to the heads of enterprises, organisations and citizens with a request not to remain indifferent to the problem of child road traffic injuries and to transfer funds to a special settlement account. The accumulated funds will be used to purchase retroreflective elements for the children of the district," explained the representative of the regional traffic police.
