Preventive campaign "Do not leave children unattended!"

To draw attention to the issue of children’s playing with fire and child fatalities in fires, reduce the number of emergencies involving children, and ensure their overall safety (at home, outdoors, during recreation, near water bodies, etc.), a preventive campaign titled “Do Not Leave Children Unattended!” will be launched in the Lepel district, as well as in all regional and district centres, from May 3 to June 1. This campaign is timed to coincide with the International Day of Families and Children's Day.

To draw attention to the issue of children’s playing with fire and child fatalities in fires, reduce the number of emergencies involving children, and ensure their overall safety (at home, outdoors, during recreation, near water bodies, etc.), a preventive campaign titled “Do Not Leave Children Unattended!” will be launched in the Lepel district, as well as in all regional and district centres, from May 3 to June 1. This campaign is timed to coincide with the International Day of Families and Children's Day.

The main goal of the campaign is to draw attention to the issue of children’s playing with fire and child fatalities in fires, reduce the number of emergencies involving children, and ensure their overall safety at home, outdoors, during recreation in nature, and near water bodies. The primary focus during the campaign will be on preventive work with parents.

As part of the first stage of the campaign, dedicated to the International Day of Families, large-scale events will be held from May 3 to May 15 at venues with large gatherings of people where parents spend time with their children. “Photo zones” and “Learning Safety Rules Together” play areas will be organised, where parents and children can participate in contests, quizzes, and games.

During the second stage of the campaign, from May 17 to May 21, the focus will be on working with parents of preschool and primary school-aged children, as well as young and expectant mothers. To this end, training sessions aimed at reducing child fatalities and injuries will be held at the “Maternity School” at the Healthcare Institution “Lepel Central District Hospital”. Issues concerning child safety will be discussed with parents in educational institutions. Parent-teacher meetings with the participation of emergency service workers on the topic “Preventing Child Injuries – Teaching Children Safety Rules!” will be held in preschool institutions and primary classes of general education institutions.

The third stage of the campaign will take place from May 24 to May 28 in large families and family-type orphanages. A family sports event titled “Mom, Dad, We Are Strong in Safety!” is also planned.

The campaign will conclude on June 1st, International Children's Day, which is traditionally held in the City Park of Lepel. The event will feature themed contests, games, concert programs, and creative performances, as well as educational and play areas, a demonstration of emergency rescue equipment and gear, fire extinguisher and API operation, first aid masterclasses, and demonstration performances by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) units, among other activities.
