An analysis of the road traffic situation indicates that the main causes of fatalities are head-on collisions of vehicles, which are causally linked to exceeding speed limits and overtaking rules.

For instance, in January-April 2021, 16 head-on collisions were registered in the Vitebsk region, resulting in 8 fatalities and 19 injuries.

In this regard, from 18 to 24 May 2021, the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct preventive checks of roads and adjacent settlements, aimed at preventing and suppressing violations of speed limits and overtaking rules, using covert and mixed control methods and employing vehicles without special markings.
