Over the 6 months of 2018, a decrease in the total number of registered crimes has been observed in the Lepel district (from 127 to 122).
The predominant types of crimes continue to be thefts of all forms of property.
In the past period of 2018, a decrease in the number of registered thefts of all forms of property has been noted (from 50 to 48), including from dwellings (from 19 to 18). A decrease has also been observed (from 16 to 14) in the number of thefts from apartments and private houses. No car thefts have been registered. However, the number of mobile phone thefts has increased (from 1 to 5).
The main reason contributing to the commission of these crimes is the negligent and irresponsible attitude of citizens towards their property.
Taking this opportunity, the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs asks you to take measures to protect your property and not leave your belongings unattended.
- always check that all doors and windows of your apartment (house) are closed (even if you are leaving for a short time);
- install reliable entrance doors and locks;
- close windows tightly, reinforce window openings;
- do not hide spare keys to your apartment (house) under the doormat, in the mailbox, or any other easily accessible place;
- do not store valuables or money in plain sight, among books or bedding;
- if you have lost or had your apartment keys stolen, change the locks immediately;
- install a security alarm system and remember to activate it.
The most reliable method of protection is the implementation of measures to secure the housing sector by equipping citizens' apartments and other premises with security alarm systems.
