Most of us use railway transport services at least a few times a year. At railway stations, platforms, and on electric trains, warnings from Belarusian Railway are regularly broadcast over the loudspeaker, urging maximum vigilance when near the tracks. The slogans are well-known: "The railway is not a place for walks," "Remember: a train cannot be stopped instantly." Everyone has become accustomed to these warnings and, unfortunately, treats them like annoying advertisements for chocolate bars. And for good reason. If passengers took the railway workers' appeals seriously, accidents could have been avoided.
In this regard, it is necessary to remind once again that railway infrastructure facilities are high-risk areas.
Crossing railway tracks should be done at designated and marked locations (pedestrian crossings, tunnels, bridges).
When crossing railway tracks, citizens should not use mobile phones or headphones.
Crossing a railway track after a train in one direction has passed should only be done after ensuring that no train is approaching from the opposite direction.
In high-risk areas, it is prohibited to:
walk or be on railway tracks in undesignated areas;
violate fire safety regulations;
consume alcoholic beverages or be in public places at general-use railway transport infrastructure facilities while in a state of alcoholic, drug, or toxic intoxication;
crawl under railway transport vehicles;
climb over coupling devices between carriages;
jump from passenger platforms onto railway tracks;
go beyond the limiting line at the edge of a passenger platform;
approaching a passing train to a distance at which the suction effect of the air flow generated by the passing rolling stock is possible; running along a passenger platform next to an arriving, passing or departing (moving) train, engaging in active games, leaving children unattended and unsupervised.
Continuing the topic, it should be noted that to prevent accidents involving people, locomotive crews of trains apply emergency braking in all cases. This causes certain damage to the locomotive and wagons. Recently, specialists of Belarusian Railway have been calculating the damage caused. Many indicators are taken into account, including the cost of consumed energy, fuel, as well as the forced downtime of trains.
Do not treat the calls of railway workers formally. By doing so, we will preserve the life and health of ourselves and our loved ones.
