More than a hundred legal labour inspectors of the FTU will provide free legal assistance in all regional and district centres of the country. Federation lawyers will consult everyone interested on issues related to the protection of labour rights and socio-economic interests. Consultations will be held both in district and city trade union associations, and directly within organisations located in districts and cities.
In addition, the FTU constantly provides legal consultations to citizens. Assistance can be requested by phone, in person during a scheduled appointment, or by submitting a written or electronic application. This week, a new service was launched on the FTU internet portal, featuring trade union lawyers for all regions and sectors. To make an enquiry, it is sufficient to specify your district and field of activity, and the system will suggest legal inspectors who can assist you most effectively. It is expected that this will make it even easier and faster for trade union members to receive assistance from a qualified lawyer.
In the first half of 2018 alone, FTU lawyers provided almost 80,000 consultations on labour and related issues. 58 cases in court instances were resolved in favour of the employee, with citizens' interests represented by trade union legal labour inspectors. With the direct involvement of trade unions, 39 people were reinstated in their jobs, and unpaid or illegally withheld funds totalling over Br2 million were recovered.
Mobile trade union legal consultations have been practised since March 2015. As a rule, consultations are held on the last Thursday of each month. Since November 2017, prosecutors have joined trade union lawyers in some regions. In the first half of this year, 389 joint legal consultations were held. Particular attention is paid to employers' compliance with labour guarantees, the procedure and deadlines for wage payments, as well as all amounts due to an employee upon dismissal.
