More than a hundred legal labour inspectors of the FTU will provide free legal assistance to citizens. Lawyers will consult everyone interested on issues related to the protection of labour rights and socio-economic interests. This form of work has been practised since March 2015. As a rule, consultations are held every last Thursday of the month both in regional and city trade union associations, and directly in organisations located within the territories of districts and cities. The place and time of consultations can be found on the FTU internet portal, as well as by calling the trade union organisations of your city or district.
In the first half of the year, trade union lawyers consulted citizens on labour and related issues nearly 80,000 times. 58 cases in court instances, where legal labour inspectors represented the interests of employees, were resolved in favour of the workers. With the direct participation of trade unions, 39 people were reinstated in their jobs, and unpaid or illegally withheld funds totalling over Br2 million were returned.
In some regions, employees of the prosecutor's office participate in legal consultations. In the first half of the year, trade union lawyers and prosecutors held 389 joint legal consultations. This form of work has enabled faster resolution of the problems of those who applied. Among the issues considered are employers' compliance with labour guarantees, the procedure and terms of payment of wages, as well as all sums due to an employee upon dismissal.
