Trade unions, together with inspectors from the Department of State Labour Inspection, are conducting monitoring in the regions for compliance with labour protection requirements in low-temperature conditions, the Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, Elena Mankevich, told a BELTA correspondent. Specialists are paying attention to compliance with the temperature regime in production facilities, and the provision of employees with personal protective equipment and warm clothing for those working outdoors. If it is impossible to ensure the temperature regime that meets sanitary requirements, trade unions recommend employers to shorten the working day while maintaining the average daily earnings of employees. Trade unions also insist that employees working outdoors in severe frosts should receive additional pay for heavy working conditions. "The position of the FTUB and the trade union committees of enterprises regarding the mandatory observance of labour protection requirements will be unwavering," Elena Mankevich assured. -0-
