The Technical Labour Inspectorate of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus is resuming systematic inspection raids to ensure compliance with labour protection legislation in republican enterprises and organisations of various forms of ownership.
The Technical Labour Inspectorate of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus monitors compliance with labour protection legislation, and also ensures that comfortable working conditions are provided for employees: whether the temperature regime at workplaces is observed, whether meal rooms are equipped, whether utility rooms are furnished with the necessary equipment, etc.
In turn, the raid groups of technical labour inspectors at regional trade union associations conduct comprehensive monitoring of labour protection compliance throughout the country.
It is worth noting that the technical inspectorate of the FTUB also conducts inspections in organisations where trade union cells have not yet been established. Violations of safety regulations are identified in both state-owned and private enterprises. Technical inspectors pay special attention to checking the implementation of the "Labour Protection" sections in collective agreements and accords, and the requirements of Presidential Decree No. 1 "On Measures to Strengthen Public Safety and Discipline". If labour protection requirements and norms are not observed, recommendations for eliminating violations are issued to the heads of organisations.
The Technical Labour Inspectorate controls the investigation of industrial accidents that have occurred, and also conducts a detailed analysis of incidents, establishing their causes. The results of the inspections are communicated to the employer to eliminate the possibility of recurrence. The results of the monitoring show that this approach yields a positive effect – the number of fatal accidents is decreasing.
Workers from various sectors regularly turn to the Technical Labour Inspectorate for assistance. This is often the only effective way to achieve improved working conditions. Incidentally, the FTUB's "hotline" on issues of compliance with labour protection norms and living conditions at work operates year-round.
The inspection schedule of the Technical Labour Inspectorate can be found on the FTUB website.
