7 September, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. The preferential housing construction loan program in Belarus will be reduced, stated Ilya Shalanki, Deputy Chairman of the Board of OJSC "ASB Belarusbank", to journalists on 6 September, BelTA reports.
At the same time, Ilya Shalanki noted that preferential loans have not been cancelled in the country, and this system will continue to operate. "No one is going to cancel preferential lending; it will continue, and there are no plans to revise the rates; they will remain at the previous level. However, such loans should be granted to people who genuinely need them. A preferential loan should be granted to a person who truly needs it, who cannot solve their housing problems in any other way under any circumstances, such as large families, disabled individuals," noted Ilya Shalanki. "These categories will be provided with preferential loans."
According to the expert, the preferential lending system cannot be the locomotive of the construction industry. "Preferential loans are not a panacea for solving housing problems, but a tool for providing housing to the most vulnerable segments of the population. This is how it is done in civilized countries, and Belarus is no exception," emphasized Ilya Shalanki.-0-
