This was stated today by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during a working trip to the Mogilev region, a BELTA correspondent reports. The head of state noted that, overall, the problem of housing provision is no longer so acute in the country, and therefore it is necessary to adjust the housing construction program. "We need to see who we should help and for whom we should build housing. If you are improving your housing conditions, take money out of your pocket and build. We should, based on our capabilities, build only for those who are receiving housing for the first time," said the head of state. He added that this issue should be approached carefully. "We need to be more thrifty about it. Don't spread ourselves thin, saying we'll give to everyone. We won't give to everyone!" the President said. As for other state programs, they will be reduced, but only in areas where it is necessary. "Many people tell me: let's cut state programs. Let's cut them. And then what? Then let's not build complexes, roads, housing... No. We will build everything. But there should be no more waste. We need to think a thousand times - whether to lay bricks here, install metal doors or something else, but they must be durable, they must be beautiful," the President emphasized. Alexander Lukashenko is confident that this is possible. "I see it with private developers. When a private developer gets involved, wherever I've encountered it, it's twice as economical as we do it on behalf of the state," the President added. At the same time, he stressed that the state program for rural areas will not be reduced. "If we lose the pace of rural reconstruction, then we will probably never regain it," said Alexander Lukashenko. He noted that the number of facilities in agriculture should not decrease, as there are currently great needs for agricultural products, and there is no need to search for sales markets. At the same time, the head of state believes that the main problem in rural areas is sloppiness, including in pricing. He reiterated that, regardless of the sphere, the most optimal options should be chosen. -0-
