March 18, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. Production volumes at the Orekhovsky Flax Mill (Orsha District, Vitebsk Region) will increase by 50% after the modernisation, which is planned to be completed in the summer of the current year. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Director of OJSC "Orekhovsky Flax Mill" Yuri Skorokhod.

According to him, a modern high-performance flax shive processing line has already been purchased. The installation of the equipment will begin at the enterprise in April. "The line's productivity is 2 tonnes per hour, which is three times more than the equipment currently in use produces. We will be able to process up to 10 thousand tons of shive per year," Yuri Skorokhod emphasised. "As a result of the modernisation, the fibre yield will increase by 50%, and its quality will significantly improve."

Yuri Skorokhod noted that the main consumer of the flax fibre produced at the enterprise is the Orsha Flax Combine. High-quality raw materials are also in demand at enterprises in Europe, China, and Japan. And the modernisation of production opens up prospects for the joint-stock company to work in the foreign market.

The director of the flax mill stressed that the enterprise is undergoing not just modernisation, but a comprehensive reconstruction. "We are purchasing new equipment for the boiler house, which will run on production waste, and modernising the flax storage facilities. As a result, we will have a modern plant with no dust or shives," said Yuri Skorokhod, noting that working conditions at the enterprise will significantly improve. "People will work in cleanliness and warmth."
