In January-August 2017, agricultural production in all categories of farms (agricultural organisations, peasant (farm) holdings, household farms) amounted to Br10.2 billion, an increase of 3.6% in comparable prices compared to the same period in 2016, the National Statistical Committee informed BELTA.
Agricultural organisations produced output worth Br9.1 billion, or 4.9% more in comparable prices than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
As of September 1, cereal and leguminous crops (excluding corn) had been harvested from 95.8% of the areas designated for harvesting in agricultural organisations. A total of 7.5 million tonnes of grain was threshed in initial accepted weight, or 7.4% more than on the same date in 2016. The average yield was 35.9 centners per hectare of harvested area, compared to 33.4 centners per hectare in 2016.
Fodder procurement is ongoing in Belarus. As of September 1, agricultural organisations had procured 3.9 million tonnes of fodder units of grass-based fodder. 11.9 centners of fodder units per conventional head were procured for the public livestock herd.
All categories of farms produced (raised) 1.149 million tonnes of livestock and poultry (live weight), or 3.3% more than in January-August 2016, and 4.748 million tonnes of milk (2.9% more).
As of September 1, 2017, the cattle population in agricultural organisations was 4.3 million head (1.3% more), including 1.4 million cows (0.3% more). The pig population was 2.9 million head (1.5% more).
