In January-June of the current year, light industry goods worth almost Br2.4 trillion were produced in Belarus, or 111.5% compared to the same period in 2009, BELTA was informed by the National Statistical Committee. Fabric production increased by almost 1.7 times to 185.7 million sq.m. Non-woven materials of fabric type amounted to 119.4 million sq.m, which is more than twice the level of January-June last year. The output of silk fabrics increased (by more than a third to 24.8 million sq.m) and cotton fabrics (by 7.6% to 28 million sq.m). The production of wool fabrics decreased by 18.1% to 2 million sq.m, and linen fabrics by 11.3% to 11.5 million sq.m. The output of carpets and carpet products increased by 31.9%, tulle and curtain products by 23.4%, knitted products by 15.3%, and hosiery by 9.6%. Linen fiber production over six months decreased by 10.7% compared to the same period last year. In January-June, 19.2% more corsetry items were sewn, 12.1% more suits, 7.8% more jackets, 2.6% more shirts, 1.3% more coats and overcoats, and 1% more bed linen. The production of raincoats decreased by 5.7%. Over six months, almost 6 million pairs of shoes were produced, which is 18.1% more than in the same period of 2009. The output of adult coats and overcoats made of natural fur decreased by almost three times, and chrome leather goods by 26.8%. The largest stocks of finished products in the industry as of July 1 were for adult coats and overcoats made of natural fur – 12.8 times higher than the average monthly production volume, for linen fabrics – 6.8 times, for wool fabrics – 4.9 times, for coats and overcoats – 4 times, for jackets – 3 times, for hosiery – almost 3 times. The smallest stocks were for carpets and carpet products (61.3% of the average monthly production volume).
