The prosecutor's office supported the state prosecution in court in a criminal case against a resident of Lepel who committed a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
A previously unconvicted 34-year-old citizen, residing in Lepel, while in a state of alcohol intoxication, gained free access to an unlocked house on one of the streets of Lepel and, out of mercenary motives, by theft, took possession of a computer monitor belonging to a resident of Lepel, thereby causing damage to the victim in the amount of 200 Belarusian rubles. The accused fled the scene of the crime, stealing the property for the purpose of further sale.
During the court hearing, the accused fully admitted his guilt.
The court of Lepel District, taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, found the resident of Lepel guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and, considering mitigating and aggravating circumstances, sentenced him to 220 hours of community service. In accordance with Part 2 of Article 46-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, a monetary sum corresponding to the income received from the sale of property obtained by criminal means is recovered from the accused.
In accordance with Part 1 of Article 107 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, compulsory security measures and treatment for chronic alcoholism were applied to the accused through compulsory outpatient observation and treatment at his place of residence.
The sentence has entered into legal force.
