The Prosecutor's Office of Lepel District supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against the former chief mechanical engineer of a branch of an electric power enterprise.
During the court investigation, it was established that the accused, who was authorized to select contractors for the repair of agricultural machinery, received monetary rewards from the director of a private organization from March 2022 to July 2023 for favouring her organization as a contractor for agricultural machinery repair, for ensuring the conclusion of contracts with this organization for the provision of agricultural machinery repair services, and for the unimpeded signing of acceptance certificates for completed work.
The total amount of illegal remuneration received amounted to 3,200 Belarusian rubles.
Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Lepel District Court rendered a guilty verdict. Based on parts 1 and 2 of Article 430 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the accused was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment for the aggregate of crimes, to be served in a correctional colony under an enhanced regime, with a fine of 14,000 Belarusian rubles and deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational and administrative, and administrative and economic duties, as well as those related to the commission of legally significant actions, for a period of 5 years.
The verdict has not entered into legal force and may be appealed and protested in appellate order.
