The Lepel District Prosecutor's Office, in anticipation of the start of the active swimming season in 2025, has inspected compliance with legislation aimed at ensuring safe conditions for citizens' recreation on water.
During the inspection of beaches and bathing areas, a number of violations of the Rules for the Protection of Life on Water, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of 18.08.2023 No. 543, were identified.
In particular, the beach in the village of Borovka on Lake Shchybot is not equipped with a children's bathing area.
For reference: in accordance with clause 18 of the Rules for the Protection of Life on Water, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of 18.08.2023 No. 543 (hereinafter – the Rules), the beach and its water area must be equipped with a bathing area, i.e., a fenced-off part of the beach water area intended for children's bathing.
At the city beach of Lake Lepel, the designated area for children under 9 years of age (with a depth not exceeding 0.7 meters) is not properly fenced off.
Furthermore, despite the technical feasibility at the Lepel Lake beach, the designated area for children aged 9 to 14 (with a depth not exceeding 1.2 meters) is not equipped.
Based on the results of the supervisory measures, the Lepel District Prosecutor's Office has issued a directive to the Lepel District Executive Committee, demanding that immediate measures be taken to eliminate the identified violations and prevent their recurrence.
The prosecutor's office has taken the execution of the supervision act under its control.
