In 2011, the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office filed claims with economic courts on behalf of agro-industrial complex enterprises for approximately Br5 billion, the regional prosecutor's office informed a BELTA correspondent. One of the important tasks facing the prosecutor's offices is the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of the state and organizations of various forms of ownership. In 2011, the prosecutor's offices of the Vitebsk region filed 315 claims and applications for the initiation of order proceedings with the economic courts of the republic for a total amount of about Br26 billion. 90 claims (applications) were filed on behalf of state-owned organizations for a total amount exceeding Br7.5 billion, and on behalf of AIC enterprises – for about Br5 billion. For example, the prosecutor of Lepel District filed a claim in favour of Lepel Forestry for the recovery of a debt of Br15.8 million from a foreign private production unitary enterprise, which arose due to the improper performance of a timber sale and purchase agreement. The prosecutor's claim was fully satisfied by the court. Due to the improper fulfillment of contractual obligations for the payment of elite seeds received from the "Olgovskoye" agricultural production cooperative by one of the peasant (farm) holdings, the prosecutor of Vitebsk District sent an application to the Vitebsk Regional Economic Court for the recovery of a debt of Br21.9 million from the debtor in favour of the agricultural cooperative. The court satisfied the claims. The prosecutor's offices will continue their targeted work to protect the interests of the state and organizations of various forms of ownership by filing claims and applications with the economic courts of the republic, the prosecutor's office added. -0-
