In anticipation of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, a solemn burial of the remains of those who died during the Great Patriotic War took place at the military cemetery of the military hospital in Lepel.

In anticipation of the celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, a solemn burial of the remains of those who died during the Great Patriotic War took place at the military cemetery of the military hospital in Lepel – 23 Red Army soldiers, as well as 20 civilians.

The significant event for the district was attended by Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies; Igor Martynov, Member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, member of the Standing Commission on National Security; Yuri Derkach, member of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the sixth convocation from the Vitebsk region. Also present at the event were Ruslan Shkodin, Colonel, Military Commissar of the Vitebsk region, Deputy for the Borovsk electoral district No. 13 of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies; Igor Urban, Chairman of the Lepel District Council of Deputies; Mikhail Kiselevich, Chairman of the District Executive Committee, as well as his deputies, representatives of public associations and organizations of the district, and caring people who sacredly preserve the memory of the war.

Archpriest Sergey Leshkevich, rector of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, performed a requiem service for all soldiers and civilians who died for faith and the Fatherland. Maria Bovdilo from the village of Kleshchino, Bochenkovsky village council, Beshenkovichsky district, attended the solemn event. It is assumed that her mother, Antonina Efimovna Tolstaya, is among those buried.
