This week, Valentin Eduardovich Lovets, Head of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations, held meetings with the workforces of the Lepel District Post Office, the branch "Lepel Road Repair and Construction Department No. 202", and the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties for the Lepel District. In his addresses, Valentin Eduardovich informed the attendees about the current operational situation in the republic, the region, and the district based on the results of the past year, outlined the main causes of fires, noted the challenging situation with fires and fatalities this year, and cited tragic examples of child fatalities in 2017. Furthermore, issues concerning the causes of fires in residential buildings due to improper maintenance of stove heating, gas, and electrical equipment were discussed. Questions regarding compliance with fire safety requirements in the workplace and the necessity of equipping private residences with autonomous fire alarms were also raised. During the discussions, the Head of the Department appealed to those present not to remain indifferent to the unlawful behaviour of problematic neighbours, to take care of their elderly parents, and reminded them of the need for timely snow removal from residential roofs and how to behave during icy conditions.
