Belarus and Russia, sister nations… This is a fair description of two states united by a common history, a glorious past, customs and traditions passed down from generation to generation. And although Belarus and Russia are separated by a border, the two fraternal peoples share common traits – spiritual richness, benevolence, sincerity and openness, and a love for creativity. For decades, together we have sung songs that glorify the beauty of the Motherland, the courage of front-line soldiers, and the purity of sincere feelings… The language of music unites generations and brings peoples closer.
The Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia is always a memorable celebration in our country. On this day, the land of Lepel welcomed esteemed guests. A concert by the choir of the people's amateur association "Veteran" of the Ushachi District House of Culture took place on the stage of the district House of Culture. It was very pleasing that among the audience were not only representatives of the older but also of the younger generations.
The Chairman of the Ushaсhi District Council of Veterans, Uladzimir Malatkovets, addressed the audience with warm greetings and sincere congratulations. Melodious songs performed by choir participants flowed from the stage. The poignant lyrics of the songs gradually revealed the beauty of the Ushaсhi region to us. The songs "My Ushaсhchyna" and "What are you rustling about, partisan forest?" gifted a lyrical mood to the audience. The Belarusian folk song "Marusenka" and "May you bloom, my garden" lifted the audience's spirits. As it turned out, among the amateur artists, there are not only talented singers but also masters of humorous anecdotes. The audience could not hold back their laughter during the performance of Klaudziya Ivanova, who wonderfully recited the poem "When I Retired...". The vocal performances of Valiantsina Lukashenak, Uladzimir Palinski, Halina Zhaleyka, and Mikalai Sobal perfectly complemented the stage action. Zoya Khvoshch recited the humorous anecdote "Tomatoes" by Tamara Baradzyonak, a member of the Union of Writers of the Republic of Belarus. The audience also warmly welcomed the singing of the Great Patriotic War veteran Katsiaryna Vasileuskaya, Lidziya Malatkovets, and the performance of Halina Zhalankouskaya. The ringing chastushki by Katsiaryna Vasileuskaya flowed as a cheerful chord. Well-known songs that have not lost their popularity for many years were heard from the stage.
The Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Mikalai Nikitsin, expressed sincere gratitude to the guests from Ushaсhi for their brilliant performance and presented Inesa Klimava, the head of the veterans' choir, with a Letter of Appreciation from the Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Barys Yafremava. The Chairman of the Lepel District Council of Veterans, Vasil Mayzus, did not spare warm words for the guests. As a fond memory of our region, Vasil Kanstantsinavich presented the guests with a Book about Lepelshchyna. Sincere congratulations from the younger generation were voiced by Tatsiana Shcherbach, the first secretary of the BRYM Youth Union, who presented the choir leader with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
