On Sunday, by ten in the morning, it had already started to get hot, and five combine harvesters set off from the farm’s mechanical yard to the field called Tselina. Once, the areas from Ladna Slobodka to Lake Azertsy were marshy, overgrown with bushes and sparse forest, and they were called Lada. The villagers derived little benefit from those Lada, perhaps only chopping alder for firewood. In the late 1950s – early 1960s, land reclamation was carried out in the area, the bushes were uprooted, and the largest field in the farm was created, about one hundred hectares, which is why it was nicknamed Tselina by the locals.

The combine harvesters are approaching the edge of the field one by one. Three days ago, trial harvesting was carried out here; they harvested around the perimeter, threshing about three bunkers. Sergey Malinovskiy, Viktor Akulich, and Aleksandr Bogdanovich emerge from the cabins. Vladimir Kudin, the chief agronomist of “Ladna”, approaches, and a conversation begins. The main topic is how best to harvest the new section, as there is a plot with elite crops that need to be left for seed. One thing is certain – everyone sincerely cares about the task entrusted to them and strives to work for results.
In one day, five combine harvesters harvested the 80 hectares of wheat designated for harvesting, leaving only about 20 hectares of elite crops for seed, which will be harvested slightly later. They threshed over 300 tons of wheat grain.
The average yield was about 38 centners per hectare.
