1 July, Moscow /BelTA correspondent/. Notification acceptance points at the Belarusian-Russian border have been abolished as of today. They have been eliminated due to the fact that from 1 July 2011, customs control functions for goods and vehicles travelling to the territory of the Customs Union are carried out by the customs services of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan at the border crossing points on the external border of the Customs Union, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation informed a BelTA correspondent. Last year, after the ratification of the common Customs Code by all three countries, the customs border effectively disappeared between Belarus and Russia. However, several notification acceptance points remained on it, carrying out certain transit control operations for goods. As for the Russian-Kazakhstan border, customs clearance was cancelled here in July 2010, but customs control remained until today. The FCS noted that customs officers of the three countries will now exchange key information with each other on each consignment of goods cleared in their territory. Information exchange and other forms of interaction within a single customs space will allow for timely response to emerging risks. One such risk is the issue with Kazakhstan concerning certain duties, which has not been fully resolved. Currently, Kazakh duties are lower than Belarusian and Russian ones for more than 400 commodity items.-0-
