Why is the arboretum not protected? It is no secret that rare tree species are stolen and dug up... Is it possible to assign a guard to every tree or hang a lock on it? Here, the "lock" should be the conscience of everyone and the appropriate level of human upbringing. People need to be educated to feel responsible for the land they live on, for their region, and for their planet as a whole. Otherwise, no guards will cope. An arboretum is essentially the same as a park. We have parks and squares, and not just one. These are places for people to relax, not some kind of restricted facilities. So let people relax culturally, and we will all together resist hooligans and poachers.
A clay quarry was developed in the area of the former traction plant. In 2000, the management of the forestry decided to create an arboretum there on an area of 6.6 hectares. Initially, local species were planted: spruce, pine, birch, maple, linden, larch. Then they began to supplement the flora with various ornamental plants.
At that time, there were no longer such broad opportunities to bring seedlings, as they say, from overseas. Some were grown in our nurseries, some were found in other forestry institutions. For example, in Glubokoye, there is a very rich arboretum, which is almost not inferior to a botanical garden.
Now there are over two thousand plants of more than one hundred and twenty species. Among them are so-called introduced species - imported breeds: thuja, cypress, Siberian pine, blue spruce, red oak, Tatar maple, tree of heaven, etc.
Within the framework of Forest Week, we also hold a landscaping event in the arboretum. Students of the agricultural technical college participate in it, and we also invite everyone who wishes. We will be planting a privet maze - this is an ornamental plant that forms a "living fence".
This year, work is underway to improve the pond, requiring cleaning, expansion, and landscaping of the surrounding area. Melioration specialists are involved in these works. As is known, there are three ponds on the territory. In addition, a new gazebo will be installed.
It is very good that young people and teenagers are encouraged to work in the dendropark. One can hope that a teenager who has planted or is caring for a tree will not raise their hand to break it. Working in the dendropark provides good lessons in nature, lessons in thrift, and responsibility for one's homeland. It is important that adults also remember this responsibility. A sense of ownership is, first and foremost, a sense of responsibility. How we work for our planet is how we will live on it.
