The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Belarus has established the standard working time calculation for 2020. It is approved by the Ministry's Resolution No. 52 of 14 November 2019, as reported to BelTA correspondent by the department.
The standard working time calculation for 2020, with the full duration of working time, will be: 2040 hours for a five-day working week with Saturdays and Sundays as days off; 2033 hours for a six-day working week with Sunday as the day off.
"In 2020, the number of working hours for a six-day working week is less than for a five-day working week. The main reason for this difference is that in 2020, two non-working public holidays (May 9 and November 7) fell on a Saturday. A similar situation occurred, for example, in 2009, 2010, and 2015," explained the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
The standards are set based on the full working time duration of 40 hours per week and only for the specified work regimes.
In organisations with different work regimes, the employer independently calculates the standard working time calculation for the calendar year, in compliance with Articles 112-117 of the Labour Code, and establishes its value for the corresponding calendar year by their own local normative legal act, which will be the full working time duration for the organisation's employees.
The standard working time calculation is established annually. Based on it, the employer determines the working time duration during which an employee is obliged to be at the workplace, draws up the work schedule (shift schedule), and also monitors compliance with the working time duration established by the Labour Code.-0-
