A criminal case was considered against a native of Chashniki who committed a crime under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

In July 2017, a native of Chashniki, previously repeatedly convicted, moved from Chashniki to Lepel for permanent residence and in October 2018 rented accommodation from the victim. When moving into this accommodation, the victim's son handed over property belonging to the victim to the native of Chashniki for temporary use, namely: a blanket, bed linen, a DVD player, kitchen utensils, and curtains. In December 2018, the native of Chashniki decided to change his accommodation and move to the village of Matyushino, taking with him all the property of the victim that had been provided for his use. The native of Chashniki informed the victim's son via SMS message about his intention to move out, but did not return the apartment key and actively avoided meeting. After the victim reported the incident to the police, all the stolen property was returned to her.

Both during the preliminary investigation and the court investigation, the native of Chashniki fully admitted his guilt in the secret theft of property.

The court of Lepel District found the native of Chashniki guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and sentenced him to 1 year and 8 months of restriction of liberty with direction to an open-type correctional institution. In accordance with Part 2 of Article 71 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, by absorbing the less severe punishment imposed by the verdict of the Chashniki District Court of 08.01.2019, the final sentence is 1 year and 8 months of restriction of liberty with direction to an open-type correctional institution. The native of Chashniki was ordered to pay the victim 100 Belarusian rubles in compensation for moral damage, as well as state duty in the amount of 76.5 Belarusian rubles to the state revenue.

This verdict of the Lepel District Court has not yet entered into legal force.
