A criminal case was considered against a resident of the village of Zabolotye who committed a crime under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
In mid-April 2019, a 49-year-old resident of the village of Zabolotye decided to go to her neighbour N. and steal a gas cylinder from her house in order to scald pigs. She took a knife and approached the victim's house, pulled the door, and the bolt came loose. Entering the house, she went to the kitchen, where she cut the hose with a knife, put the 23-kilogram cylinder on her shoulder and carried it to her home, hiding it in the bedroom wardrobe. When she left, she closed the door behind her and put the bolt back in place. She did not use the cylinder and eventually voluntarily handed it over to the police officers herself.
Both during the preliminary investigation and the court investigation, the resident of the village of Zabolotye fully admitted her guilt and sincerely repented.
The court of Lepel District found the resident of the village of Zabolotye guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and sentenced her to correctional labour for a term of 6 months with 15% of her earnings withheld for the benefit of the state. In accordance with Part 1 of Article 107 of the Criminal Code, compulsory measures for the security and treatment of chronic alcoholism were applied to her.
