The feed ration for livestock in the Vitebsk region has been increased by 20% due to frost, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. To ensure the preservation of animals of all species during the period of low temperatures, a decision has been made to increase their feed ration by 20% and increase the supply of concentrated feed. Also, 20,000 young animals up to one month of age have been moved to indoor housing, and these animals are provided with warm water and whole milk replacer. In addition, at livestock complexes, milking parlours, doors, and windows have been insulated, and water supply has been arranged in farms where freezing has been recorded. Emergency crews are on duty and the necessary equipment for heating premises has been prepared to handle unforeseen situations. "The measures taken have made it possible to avoid cases of livestock freezing or deterioration in the preservation of young animals," the committee concluded. -0-
