In Belarus, the amounts of state child benefits will increase from November 1 due to an increase in the subsistence minimum budget (SMB) per capita, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection informed a BELTA correspondent.

By Resolution of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of October 23, 2017, No. 60, the SMB for November of the current year to January 31 of the next year has been set at Br197.81 per month. The new SMB has increased by 0.1% compared to the rate effective from August 1 to October 31 of the current year (Br197.57), and consequently, the amounts of child benefits will also increase.

Thus, the one-time benefit upon the birth of the first child will be Br1978.10; upon the birth of the second and subsequent children - Br2769.34. The one-time benefit for women who registered with healthcare organizations before the 12th week of pregnancy will be paid from November at the rate of Br197.81, and the benefit for families with children aged 3 to 18 during the period of raising a child under three years of age (monthly) - at the rate of Br98.91.

The monthly benefit for families with children over 3 years old from certain categories of families, as defined by legislation, for a child with a disability is Br138.47; for other children in the family - Br98.91. The monthly benefit for caring for a child with a disability under 18 years of age will be Br197.81 (with I and II degrees of health loss and with III and IV degrees of health loss until the child reaches the age of 3) and Br237.37 (with III and IV degrees of health loss after the child reaches the age of 3); the monthly benefit for a child under 18 years of age infected with HIV - Br138.47.

Regarding childcare benefits for children under three years of age, they remain at the same level (they were increased from August 1 of the current year). The amount of this benefit varies depending on the number of children in the family: for the first child, it is 35% of the average monthly wage of workers in the republic, for the second and subsequent children – 40%, for a child with a disability – 45% regardless of the birth order of this child in the family. Thus, payments for the first child amount to Br278.88 per month, for the second and subsequent children – Br318.72, for a child with a disability – Br358.56. Please note that from July 1, 2017, a new version of the law on child benefits came into force, according to which the approach to recalculating the amount of childcare benefits for children under 3 years of age is changing. Previously, recalculation was carried out four times a year, now – twice a year (from February 1 and from August 1).
