Development of the Belarusian ID card to be completed within two years

December 16, Minsk /BELTA/. The development of the Belarusian ID card will be completed within two years. This was announced by Sergey Rudnev, Deputy Director of the RUE "National Center for Electronic Services", during the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Information Resources Management", which was held at the Academy of Management under the President of Belarus, BELTA was informed by the university's press service.

Sergey Rudnev spoke about the implementation of the service and settlement information system concept in Belarus. According to him, this system is intended to effectively replace the citizen's paper passport for payments and ordering social, transport, and medical services. In the future, such an ID card should become the "internal passport of a Belarusian citizen", which is necessary for individuals to access services provided through a unified electronic portal. The speaker reported that the work on creating the identification card will be completed within the next two years.

To expand public access to the Unified Portal of Electronic Services, the relevant regulatory framework has been signed, and two information intermediaries have been identified – RUE "Belpochta" and "Beltelecom". Thus, citizens will be able to obtain various certificates from government bodies at post offices and "Beltelecom" public access points, Sergey Rudnev informed.

Representatives of the National Statistical Committee, the National Academy of Sciences, the Administration of the President, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Ministry of Communications and Informatization, experts from the Academy of Management, the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, and the Belarusian Institute of Systems Analysis and Information Support of the Scientific and Technical Sphere also shared their experience in information resources management at the conference. Foreign guests also took part in the event.

After the plenary session, various sections and thematic round tables were organized, dedicated, in particular, to IT support technologies for the activities of state bodies and organizations, IT outsourcing, and economic and mathematical methods in management.-0-
