The development of joint IT technologies will be considered at a meeting of the joint board of the ministries of internal affairs of the Union State, which will be held in Vitebsk on June 28, the information and public relations department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus informed a BELTA correspondent. The participants of the board intend to discuss the development of joint information and telecommunication technologies, communication organization, and information security. The discussion will focus on the unification of software and hardware solutions, data exchange and storage formats, as well as the creation of modern digital radio communication systems for the benefit of internal affairs bodies in border regions, and the exchange of new training and scientific developments in the field under consideration. Work on organizing the radio communication system for the internal affairs units of Belarus and Russia has already been carried out along the Moscow-Minsk-Brest road and railway highway. An Interstate Information Bank has been created and is effectively functioning for information exchange. The formation and use of its centralized operational reference, forensic, and wanted person databases, as well as statistical and archival information, is carried out by the Ministries of Internal Affairs (Police) of the CIS member states. The number of records contained in this database exceeds 72 million. The joint board also plans to discuss various aspects of cooperation in countering extremism: conducting joint special operations, exercises, and the possibility of unifying legislation. In Belarus and Russia, legislation adequate to the situation is in force in the field of legal relations under consideration. For example, in April 2012, a law came into force in Russia, which stipulates that persons with a criminal record for extremist activities cannot work in the field of education and upbringing. In the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, a draft law is currently under consideration, which provides for changes in approaches to suspending the activities of organizations and individual entrepreneurs engaged in extremist activities. The participants will also discuss the draft work plan of the joint board of the ministries of internal affairs of the Union State for 2013 and sign the final documents. The heads of the Belarusian and Russian Ministries of Internal Affairs, Igor Shunevich and Vladimir Kolokoltsev, will take part in the joint board meeting.
