The issue "On the implementation of the plan for the development of certain regions, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus" is being considered at the session of the regional executive committee.
Several districts of the Vitebsk region are in the spotlight.
– The issue is quite problematic and mainly relates to districts lagging in socio-economic development – Gorodok, Shumilino, Senno, Sharkovshchina, Ushachi, and Liozno. In order to reduce interregional differentiation, the government resolution was adopted, which allowed these districts to improve their indicators relative to the national average in the current five-year period, – reminded the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin. – In Senno and Gorodok districts – in terms of wages, revenue, and the number of economically active population; in Liozno, Sharkovshchina, and Shumilino – in terms of wage and revenue growth; in Ushachi – in terms of wage levels. The plan for the development of certain regions envisaged the implementation of 85 projects, of which less than half have been implemented since 2020.
As a result, stated the head of the northern region, currently none of the named districts have fulfilled all three indicators set by the resolution.
The prospects and strategy for the further development of the regions, both from the perspective of the chairmen of the district executive committees and the leadership of the regional executive committee, are being discussed at the session of the regional executive committee.
