The regional exhibition-competition will bring together masters of ancient and forgotten crafts in Vitebsk on November 29, a BELTA correspondent was informed at the Vitebsk Regional Methodological Centre for Folk Art, where the exhibition will be held.
Participants of the creative competition, representing Houses of Crafts from almost the entire region, will demonstrate the diversity of ancient craft traditions of the Vitebsk region through original works that reflect the beauty of our land, the talent and rich imagination of the people. The exhibition will feature replicas of folk art masterpieces and original works of rare craft technologies. These include artistic processing of birch bark; cooperage products (barrels, gourds, basins, etc.); openwork carving (Belarusian carving); tiles; forged windmills and crosses; traditional leather footwear and mittens; hat making (felt boots, magerki, etc.); rare types of weaving, including openwork; lubok prints; bone needle knitting (spiral weaving technique); artistic bone processing; glass painting; lacquer miniatures; musical instruments and other works of rare crafts.
Master classes on learning restored craft technologies will also be held.
The exhibition can be visited until December 14.
