On January 20, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 14 "On the Appointment of a Republican Referendum," as reported to BELTA by the press service of the Head of State.

In accordance with the document, the republican referendum on the issue of amending and supplementing the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus is scheduled for February 27, 2022.

The Decree defines the wording of the question submitted to the referendum, which is reproduced verbatim in the ballot paper: "Do you accept the amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus?"

The amendments and additions to the Constitution submitted to the referendum are attached to the decree.

Taking into account the requirements established by the Electoral Code, the mandatory legal force of the decision adopted by the republican referendum is enshrined. The procedure for the decision to enter into force is defined - 10 days after its official publication. It is established that the decision adopted by the referendum is an integral part of the Constitution.

The Central Commission for Elections and Republican Referendums is instructed to organize the referendum, ensure the summarization of its results, and exercise control over the implementation of legislation in the relevant sphere.
