Regional stage of the republican youth competition "One Hundred Ideas for Belarus"

The most creative, young, and talented representatives of the youth participated in the regional stage of the republican youth competition "One Hundred Ideas for Belarus," organised by the district organisation of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM).

Energy saving, culture, education, healthcare, ecology… The list of nominations is exceptionally broad. More than seven thousand people are involved in this youth competition. And it is quite likely that one of the presented projects will soon receive a grant for further development.

What can be made from used medical syringes, an IV drip, and an excavator model? Make it move. Artem Khrishchenko, a student from group 261t of the agro-technical college, presented "An excavator model with a hydraulic actuator," which he created together with his teacher Yevgeny Voroshko. The skilled "Kulikobins" improved the chassis and outriggers, and the excavator with a rotating platform started working. Therefore, college students have the opportunity to see an excavator in action without leaving the classroom. And it runs not on diesel fuel, but on ordinary water. Using pistons and water, it can move the bucket and rotate the platform.

Anastasia Tereshkova, a student of the I. M. Yerashov Gymnasium, touched upon the eternal theme of war and the memory of it. The memories of soldiers' letters sent home to her family were understandable even without words. Her idea is simple: along with the "Immortal Regiment" of photographs, create a similar regiment of front-line triangles.

The social project of Vladimir Khamenka, a history teacher at the B. I. Yurkin Glybocahnskaya Kindergarten-Secondary School, is called "Man and Cat." Vladimir and his students are not making "Napoleonic" plans to open a shelter for stray animals in a small settlement. This is difficult to implement for various reasons. The social project is simpler and consists of step-by-step actions, the implementation of which is feasible even for primary school students. Its aim is to help our smaller brethren survive the winter cold.

Simple "life hacks" for saving cats and dogs are not complicated, but they remain highly relevant. It is no secret that in winter, access to basements and attics is restricted, entrances are closed, and animals die from the cold. Meanwhile, a warm woolen sock put on a kitten can warm it up. And who knows, perhaps seeing such a funny sight might inspire someone to help it find a home. Creating a similar "sweater" for an adult cat is not easy, but it is quite possible to build a temporary shelter for it using a cardboard box, an old t-shirt, and rags. Another reason for animal deaths is that they climb under cars or into engine compartments hoping to warm up. A small leaflet reminding drivers to check their vehicles before setting off can help here.

In addition to the aforementioned methods, this includes putting various kinds of "trinkets" on stray animals, creating collection points for food, and establishing an information network. After all, a couple of handfuls of food or sausages will only cost a few kopecks. A small price for a saved life.

The project "Educational Route" by Yulia Yagodka, a foreign language teacher at Ushachi Secondary School, also has a social focus. In 2019, the Second European Games will be held in the capital of Belarus. Yulia's "Educational Route" will help foreign fans and city guests become more familiar with Belarusian culture. At bus, tram, or metro stops, the announcer will not only announce the stop but also briefly talk about Yanka Kupala at "Kupalovskaya" or Alexander Pushkin at "Pushkinskaya". Undoubtedly, it will also be useful for Belarusians to refresh their memory of the school curriculum or learn something new.

All participants were awarded certificates and valuable prizes by the RK PO "BRSM".
