Due to the prolonged dry and abnormally hot weather, lack of precipitation in the Lepel district, and considering the current situation with fires in forests and peatlands, preventive raid activities have been carried out in the Lepel district within forests, at citizens' recreation areas (campsites), and in populated areas.
Due to the prolonged dry and abnormally hot weather, lack of precipitation in the Lepel district, and considering the current situation with fires in forests and peatlands, preventive raid activities have been carried out in the Lepel district within forests, at citizens' recreation areas (campsites), and in populated areas. The Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations and the Lepel Forestry participated in the raid activities.
During the activities, citizens were once again reminded of the basic fire safety rules in forests, as well as of the administrative and criminal liability for violating fire safety rules in forests and peatlands, illegal burning of dry vegetation, standing grass, stubble, and post-harvest residues in fields. Requirements for restricting and prohibiting access to forests and peatlands were explained. It was also explained that during this period, the following are prohibited on the territory of the forest fund: entry of vehicles into the forest fund territory of the Lepel district, except for forest roads leading to populated areas or to cultural, recreational, and tourist facilities (including properly equipped recreation areas), and lighting fires.
As part of the preventive measures, citizens were handed out informational leaflets with preventive recommendations.
According to operational data, since the beginning of the year, 36 forest fires (including 1 forest fire in the Lepel district), 6 peat ignitions, and 139 grass and shrub ignitions have been extinguished in the region.
Discipline in the forest, conscious behaviour, and strict adherence to simple fire safety rules will guarantee the protection of forests from fires. This is in the interest of each of us.
