Promotional games in Belarus to be conducted under new rules

January 10, Minsk /BELTA/. Promotional games in Belarus will be conducted under new rules from January 10, as reported to BELTA by the Ministry of Trade.

This is stipulated by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of October 7, 2013 No. 458 "On Amendments and Additions to Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of January 30, 2003 No. 51".

The document amends the rules for conducting promotional games in Belarus and is aimed at protecting the rights and interests of consumers, as well as preventing possible abuses by the organizers of such games.

A new procedure for registering promotional games has been established, which can be found on the website of the Ministry of Trade in the section "Advertising Activities" / "Promotional Games" under the subsection "State Registration of Promotional Games".

The decree also prohibits persons in employment relations with the organizer of a promotional game, as well as their spouses, close relatives, and persons related by affinity, from participating in the promotional game.

The procedure for forming the prize fund of a promotional game and using this fund, including money, goods (works, services) not claimed by the winners as prizes, is specified. From the moment the prize fund is formed until its draw is completed, the organizer and interested parties are not entitled to dispose of the prize fund. The fund's assets must be used only for their intended purpose.

It is established that sending an SMS message or postal item, as provided for by the rules of a promotional game, must be carried out at the minimum tariffs for this type of service. This provision will prevent organizers of promotional games from obtaining unjustified income from increased telecommunication service tariffs.

In accordance with the decree, the organizer bears responsibility for the accuracy of the documents and information submitted for state registration of a promotional game, as well as for violations of the law committed by the commission established to conduct the promotional game, which are identified during the conduct of such a game.-0-
