A reconstruction of the liberation of the urban-type settlement of Beshenkovichi from the Nazi invaders will take place on June 26 at the "Uzhrechye" memorial complex, organisers informed a BELTA correspondent.
The programme includes a reconstruction of crossing the Western Dvina River by boat, the Red Army soldiers capturing the riverbank, and battles and skirmishes using pyrotechnics. Approximately 60 re-enactors from Belarus and Russia will participate in recreating the events of those years. Interactive zones and photo areas will be organised for residents during the event.
The "Uzhrechye" memorial complex, located in the village of the same name, features a monument and a mass grave where over 200 Red Army soldiers who died during the liberation of the Beshenkovichi district are buried. Among them are eight Heroes of the Soviet Union. It is expected that relatives of the fallen soldiers buried at the memorial will attend the ceremonial events on June 26.
The reconstruction is organised by the Vitebsk regional public association of military-historical re-enactment "Comrades in Arms" and the Beshenkovichi District Executive Committee.
