A reconstruction of the liberation of the urban settlement of Beshenkovichi from the German-fascist invaders will take place on June 26 at the "Uzhrechye" memorial complex, the organizers informed a BELTA correspondent.
The program includes a reconstruction of crossing the Western Dvina River by boats, the Red Army soldiers capturing the riverbank, and battles and skirmishes using pyrotechnic devices. About 60 reenactors from Belarus and Russia will take part in recreating the events of those years. Interactive zones and photo areas will be organized for residents during the event.
The "Uzhrechye" memorial complex, located in the village of the same name, features a monument and a mass grave where over 200 Red Army soldiers who died during the liberation of the Beshenkovichi district are buried. Among them are eight Heroes of the Soviet Union. It is expected that relatives of the fallen soldiers buried at the memorial will attend the solemn events on June 26.
The reconstruction is organized by the Vitebsk Regional Public Association of Military-Historical Reconstruction "Comrades in Arms" and the Beshenkovichi District Executive Committee.
