Sales profitability in agricultural organisations of the Vitebsk region for January-October 2012 reached 11.9% compared to 9.4% for the same period last year, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed BELTA correspondent.
In total, for January-October, the growth rate of gross product output in agricultural organisations of the region was 101.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2011, and in all categories of farms - 99.5%. This indicator was above the regional average in agricultural organisations of Beshenkovichi, Verkhnedvinsk, Vitebsk, Glubokoe, Lepel, Miory, Postavy, Rossony, Tolochin, Ushachi, Chashniki, Sharkovshchina and Shumilino districts. The level of January-October 2011 for gross product output was not reached in Braslav (97.3%), Dokshitsy (99.7%), Dubrovno (95.7%), Liozno (95.7%), Orsha (98.9%), Senno (97.7%) districts, and low growth rates were observed in Gorodok (100.2%) and Polotsk (100.5%) districts.
Regarding various areas of work, the committee noted that for January-October, agricultural organisations of the region sold livestock and poultry at live weight of 170.5 thousand tons (an increase of 8.6 thousand tons, or 5.4% compared to the same level in 2011). The output of livestock and poultry production was 199 thousand tons (105.6%). Average daily weight gains for cattle were 580 g (an increase of 10 g), and for pigs - 531 g (3 g). Egg production increased by 8.8 million pieces, reaching 337.3 million pieces (an increase of 2.7%).
Milk production increased by 3.8% to 713.1 thousand tons. Its marketability was 85.6% compared to 82.9% in January-October 2011, with milk yield per cow at 3572 kg (an increase of 154 kg). The cattle population in the region's farms increased by 7.5 thousand heads to 618.4 thousand heads.
Agrarians paid significant attention to creating a fodder base. As of November 1, 1.1 million tons of forage crops, in terms of feed units, or 23.7 centners per conventional head, were harvested in agricultural organizations. A total of 180.9 thousand tons (110%) of hay, 2.3 million tons (102.4%) of silage, and 1.7 million tons (61.2%) of haylage were harvested for the inter-season period.
The main activities of rural workers in autumn were the harvesting of grain and the procurement of fruits and vegetables. The results of their strenuous work this year include 1.3 million tons of grain and leguminous crops harvested with an average yield of 28.6 centners/ha, 122.5 thousand tons of rapeseed (14.6 centners/ha), and 93 thousand tons of potatoes (196 centners/ha).In accordance with the plans for 2013, the region's agricultural producers intend to produce 1.5 million tons of grain, 15 thousand tons of flax fiber, 150 thousand tons of rapeseed, 100 thousand tons of potatoes, 940 thousand tons of milk, 402 million eggs, and sell 228 thousand tons of livestock and poultry.-0-
