Over the past year of 2015, Lepel district experienced 22 fires, resulting in 2 fatalities. The primary causes of emergencies in residential areas continue to be careless handling of fire, violation of regulations for the operation of stove heating and electrical equipment, as well as children's mischief with fire. In most cases, fire incidents are a result of negligence and disregard for safety rules.

Over the past year of 2015, Lepel district experienced 22 fires, resulting in 2 fatalities. The primary causes of emergencies in residential areas continue to be careless handling of fire, violation of regulations for the operation of stove heating and electrical equipment, as well as children's mischief with fire. In most cases, fire incidents are a result of negligence and disregard for safety rules.

To prevent fires and fatalities, a republican campaign "Safety - into Every Home!" will be held in the district from February 1 to February 27.

The campaign will be conducted in four stages.

The first stage will take place at the 24-hour care department "Svetlitsa" of the Territorial Centre for Social Services of the Population of Lepel District. The main focus when working with the elderly, pensioners, and lonely individuals will be on conducting preventive talks and training on proper actions in case of an emergency.

Participants of the second stage of the campaign, which will run from February 15 to February 19, will be students of secondary vocational educational institutions of the town. During the events, forms of work such as discussions and game programs, contests, quizzes, questionnaires, the talk show "Dialogue", demonstration of educational films, and evacuation drills, etc., will be used.

The third stage of the campaign will be held from February 22 to February 25 at enterprises and organisations, and the fourth stage on February 26 at the "Univermag" store.

Activists of the district branch of the Belarusian Youth Public Association of Rescuers-Firefighters, members of young rescuer-firefighter clubs, students, and employees of other interested organisations will join the employees of the district emergency situations department in conducting the campaign.

During the events, the main focus will be on the prevention and warning of fires in residential buildings. Rescuers will provide information on the fire situation and fatalities, explain the main causes of fires, and clarify rules and requirements for personal safety. Special attention will be paid to the rules for operating stove heating and electrical equipment, the inadmissibility of leaving children unattended, the installation of fire detection and alarm devices in households, knowledge of primary fire extinguishing means, and actions in case of a fire.
