From February 20 to March 1, 2019, as part of the Unified Safety Day, a set of events will be held in the republic for the first time, aimed at maximally reducing fatalities from external causes and increasing public awareness of responding to natural and man-made emergencies. This decision was made by the Commission on Emergency Situations under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
The Unified Safety Day events will be held with the participation of authorities at all levels, state and public organizations, and various ministries and departments. Exercises and drills are planned for responding to natural and man-made emergencies at explosion-hazardous, fire-hazardous, chemically hazardous facilities, and facilities with mass gatherings of people. To enhance the public's safety culture, various methods of public notification are to be practiced, including broadcasts on radio and television channels, via SMS messages and Internet resources, and thematic concert programs and theatrical performances. Open days will be held at structural divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the Red Cross Society, the Voluntary Fire Society, and the OSVOD (Belarusian Society for the Rescue of Persons on Water). "Hotlines" on life safety issues will also be conducted by managers.
As part of educational and upbringing work with the younger generation, contests for the best creative work dedicated to safe living will be held, along with campaigns such as "Safe City," "Road - Symbol of Life!", "Road Alphabet," quests "Safety Formula," intellectual games "Safe Neighbour," educational platforms "Five Steps to Salvation," and "Belarus - for Children's Road Safety."
The Unified Safety Day will be held in the country twice a year. The next campaign is scheduled for the first ten days of September.
