Republican preventive campaign "A Home Without Violence!"

With the aim of attracting the attention of the general public to the problems of domestic violence and family dysfunction, explaining to citizens the necessity of assisting state bodies in minimizing the consequences of offenses committed on this basis, and clarifying the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Belarus of January 6, 2022 No. 151-Z "On Amendments to Laws on Crime Prevention", the main stage of the republican preventive campaign "A Home Without Violence!" will be held in the Lepel district from April 4 to April 8, 2022.

With the aim of attracting the attention of the general public to the problems of domestic violence and family dysfunction, explaining to citizens the necessity of assisting state bodies in minimizing the consequences of offenses committed on this basis, and clarifying the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Belarus of January 6, 2022 No. 151-Z "On Amendments to Laws on Crime Prevention", the main stage of the republican preventive campaign "A Home Without Violence!" will be held in the Lepel district from April 4 to April 8, 2022.

Within the framework of this event, employees of the internal affairs bodies of the Lepel District Executive Committee and specialists from the Department of Labour, Employment and Social Protection, the Department of Education, the State Healthcare Institution "Lepel Central Regional Hospital", as well as various organizations and public associations will inform citizens about the legal norms in force in this area, the assistance provided to victims of violence, the operation of helplines, and other relevant information.

The "A Home Without Violence" campaign was first held in April 2013 and over many years has received positive feedback from all interested parties involved in crime prevention. Its annual holding is included in the National Action Plan for Gender Equality in the Republic of Belarus for 2021–2025, approved by the Council of Ministers.

Priority tasks include taking preventive measures against persons who have committed domestic violence. Thus, in order to prevent serious consequences of family conflicts, 7 citizens have been sent to therapeutic and labor rehabilitation centers this year, including 2 family rowdies, and 4 protective orders have been issued requiring the aggressor to leave the shared residence.

In addition, amendments and additions have been made to the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the Fundamentals of Crime Prevention Activities" this year. It is worth noting

noting that one of the innovations concerned measures to prevent domestic violence, primarily the protective order, which allows this preventive measure to be applied upon the commission of unlawful acts in the sphere of family and domestic relations based on the preparation for the consideration of an administrative offense case, as well as conducting an investigation in accordance with the requirements of the criminal procedure legislation or an initiated criminal case.

It should be noted that the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs regularly carries out comprehensive measures to prevent unlawful behavior of citizens in the sphere of family and domestic relations.
