Vitebsk will host open republican competitions in running and laser pistol shooting (laser-run) on September 8, on the site near the Summer Amphitheatre, the Belarusian Modern Pentathlon Federation informed a BELTA correspondent.

Laser-run, a young sport (recognised as such in 2015), combines running and laser pistol shooting at a target. Approximately 400 Belarusian athletes will participate in the republican competitions. People of various ages will come to Vitebsk: from six to over 70 years old. The length of the distances will vary depending on the age category of the athletes: from 800m to 1.6km. During the course of the segments, athletes will have to pass several shooting ranges.

Winners and prize-winners will be determined in each declared age category (11 in total), who will be awarded a medal and a diploma. Each athlete will receive a souvenir and a certificate of participation.

The competitions are organised by the Belarusian Modern Pentathlon Federation, the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the City Executive Committee, and the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM).
