Republican competition of youth projects launches in Belarus

The Ministry of Education of Belarus and MTS company have announced the launch of the II Republican competition of youth projects "Information and Mobile Technologies for the Educational Process", BELTA was informed by the press center of the Ministry of Education.

The main goal of the event is to search for and support creative educational projects. Students of grades 8-11 and students of secondary vocational and higher education institutions (up to 23 years old) can submit their ideas.

As noted by Pavel Lis, Director of the Main Information and Analytical Center of the Ministry of Education, it is education that determines the development vector of modern society, therefore the educational system must be most sensitive to innovations occurring in the field of information technology. "The digital transformation that has encompassed all spheres of public life necessitates not just adapting to changes, but being active participants in innovation processes. This competition allows students to express themselves creatively and, importantly, contributes to the formation of an active life position of young people, as their projects can genuinely influence what is happening in the field of education," he said.

Project submissions will be accepted until November 16. The competition will be held in three stages: project collection and jury evaluation, semi-final and work with mentors, final and project defense. The submitted works will be evaluated in four nominations: "Best Innovative Project for Students", "Best Innovative Project for Parents", "Best Innovative Project for Educators", "Best Youth Innovative Project".

According to Nikolay Bulash, Head of the Commercial Department at MTS, a high level of interest in the event is expected this year. "In 2016, 200 people participated in the competition, an expert group reviewed and evaluated over 50 projects, 13 of which reached the final. This time, we expect no fewer submissions. Such an educational initiative is a good example of public-private partnership, through which MTS and the Ministry of Education invest in the future development of the country by supporting promising projects of our youth. It is worth noting that all competition winners can count on expert support in the future, both from our company and from other major mentor companies involved in mobile technologies, IT, and education," he assured.

The competition is held within the framework of an agreement concluded between the mobile operator and the Ministry of Education of Belarus on June 27. Huawei acts as a partner. The authors of the best projects will not only be able to bring their ideas to life but will also receive valuable prizes.
