The opening ceremony was attended by Vadim Bogush, First Deputy Minister of Education, Alexander Zhuk, Rector of the university, and representatives of sponsors. Welcoming the attendees, Vadim Bogush noted that robotics today is not a specialty of technical experts only; in the context of the information society, this field influences all spheres of activity. "We must be prepared for the fact that areas related to the development of artificial intelligence and big data processing will significantly impact traditional professions, including those of teachers and doctors. The establishment of a resource centre at a pedagogical university will help address the task related to research and attracting talented students to solve such pressing scientific issues as the impact of modern technologies on society and the development of new pedagogical technologies using unique tools," said the First Deputy Minister.
The Republican Resource Centre for Educational Robotics will become an integral part of the "Pedagogical STEAM Park" being created at BSPU. Its objective will be to train modern teachers of physics, computer science, mathematics, and other natural science disciplines who are capable of working with students in a high-tech educational environment. It is equipped with the most modern educational computer equipment, educational robots, a 3D printer, and much more.
The main areas of the resource centre's work will include: training students in modern innovative information technologies, which they will then actively apply in their professional activities; conducting classes for schoolchildren who will be able to creatively apply their knowledge of mathematics, physics, computer science, and other subjects at the centre; as well as conducting training courses on educational robotics and professional development for currently employed teachers.
