February 27, Minsk /BELTA/. A Republican Certification Centre (RCC) will be established within the structure of the National Centre for Electronic Services (NCES). This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Ivan Korol, Deputy Director of the NCES.

The main functions of the certification centre will include the issuance, distribution, provision of status information, suspension and resumption of validity, revocation, and storage of open key certificates for registration centres, government bodies, other organisations, and individuals.

According to Ivan Korol, by July 1 of this year, the automated information system of the public key infrastructure of the certification centre of RUP "Information and Publishing Centre for Taxes and Duties" will be transferred to the economic management of the National Centre for Electronic Services, along with all components ensuring its operation. The activities of the certification centre are of an interdepartmental nature. "The consolidation of certification centres will reduce the total operational costs in state information systems, government bodies, and organisations," said the head of the department.

Open key certificates for electronic digital signatures are used not only in the electronic declaration system of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties but also in the automated information systems of the National Statistical Committee of Belarus, the Ministry of Justice of Belarus, the Belarusian Republican Unitary Insurance Enterprise "Belgosstrakh", and the limited liability company "Monitoring Centre for Gambling Business".

As explained by the NCES, the transfer of the automated information system of the public key infrastructure will not create any additional difficulties for its subscribers. Furthermore, they will gain an additional opportunity to use open key certificates in other state information systems. -0-
