A resource centre for the construction sector was solemnly opened today at the Vitebsk State Technical College. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Education Igor Karpovich, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Penin, heads of some regional enterprises, the college, educators and students, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
Igor Karpovich noted that the resource centre is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. It will be used as a platform for vocational training of students, career guidance for schoolchildren, retraining and professional development of specialists, as well as for training participants of WorldSkills competitions and national experts of these competitions.
"Technologies are constantly changing, new equipment and materials are appearing. There are machines that require a certain engineering mindset, not just a skilled hand. The equipment in such centres simplifies the work of a specialist and guides us on the content of the educational process. In total, there are 48 resource centres operating in Belarus for nine types of economic activity, 15 of which are equipped with the latest technology. Approximately 25,000 people are trained in these centres annually," said Igor Karpovich and presented the college with a certificate for 60 tablets.
The Minister announced that a decree on organising network interaction in the training of professional personnel at the vocational-technical, secondary vocational and higher education levels is under consideration.
The resource centre at the Vitebsk college will train personnel in several workshops: masonry, painting and plastering, tiling and carpentry, and welding, among others. Br825 thousand was spent on equipping the centre. This academic year, over 450 students from specialised institutions of the region will be sent here for practical training. It is expected that the resource centre's platform, which features over one hundred types of the latest educational and production equipment, will become the basis for construction companies to hold master classes and seminars.
Vladimir Terentyev, in turn, emphasised that the northern region, using its educational institutions, is always ready to pilot new educational projects in the country.
The Vitebsk State Technical College trains approximately 2,000 students in 44 specialities and qualifications across various fields.-0-
