Residents of the FEZ "Vitebsk" increased exports of goods by almost 62% in January-September

Residents of FEZ "Vitebsk" increased the volume of exported goods by almost 62% in January-September compared to the same period in 2020.

In total, over 9 months, products worth $623 million were shipped to foreign markets. In terms of growth rate of this indicator, FEZ "Vitebsk" achieved the best result among FEZs in Belarus. The share of resident enterprises in the total export volume of the Vitebsk region was 35.5%.

During this period, a positive foreign trade balance of $189.3 million was achieved. The corresponding indicator for services export was also positive and amounted to $4.2 million, unlike other FEZs in the country where it was negative.

This year, resident enterprises are cooperating with partners from 73 countries. During this period, for the first time, supplies of fiber optic cable were made to Afghanistan, gas and smoke analyzers were shipped to Poland, fur pelts to China, linen underwear to Chile, and insulated electric cables to France. This was made possible by the enterprises' efforts to diversify exports amidst the increased risk of negative impact of the coronavirus epidemic on international trade. As a result of reorienting commodity flows, it was possible, for example, to increase product supplies to third-country markets by almost 50%, including increasing sales volumes to the UK, UAE, India, Pakistan, India, Israel, and Brazil by 3 times or more.

In total, 54 investment projects are being implemented in FEZ "Vitebsk" with the participation of investors from 14 countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, the UK, Israel, Cyprus, and Spain. FEZ "Vitebsk" consists of 16 sectors with a total area of almost 2.8 thousand hectares, of which eight are located in Vitebsk, five in the Orsha district, and one each in Novopolotsk, Postavy, and the Polotsk district.
