From February 18 to 20, the traffic police of the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs conducted a preventive operation on the "Minsk-Vitebsk" highway.



Traffic police inspectors monitored compliance with speed limits, overtaking rules, and entering the oncoming lane. State Automobile Inspectorate officers used both overt and covert control over traffic rule compliance.

A total of 66 traffic violations were identified, including 51 instances of speeding and 1 instance of entering the oncoming lane.

No road traffic accidents were registered in the district.

The traffic police remind drivers of the penalties for reckless driving, as stipulated by Article 18.12 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus:
– exceeding the speed limit by 10 km/h to 20 km/h – a fine of up to 1 base unit;
– exceeding the speed limit by 20 km/h to 30 km/h – a fine from 1 to 3 base units;
– exceeding the speed limit by 30 km/h to 40 km/h – from 3 to 10 base units;
– exceeding the speed limit by 40 km/h or more – from 8 to 12 base units.
For a repeated speeding violation of more than 20 km/h within a year, the fine will be from 5 to 15 base units. Additionally, the right to engage in certain activities may be revoked for 1 year.
